73nd Noteboomtournament: February 8 to February 10 2013

For the 73nd time, the Leidsch Schaakgenootschap organizes its Daniël Noteboomtoernooi. Upholding its longstanding tradition, the tournament will be a 6 round Swiss event, with pairings according to Buchholz. Three groups will play on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Group A is open for players over 1900, group B is open for players with an ELO between 1600 and 2000. Group C is open for players up to ELO 1700. The results will count for Dutch ELO, not for FIDE.

Smoking is prohibited in the entire building. Obviously, one is free to smoke outside.

The inscription fee of 30 Euros can only be paid at the venue, in cash. GM, IM, WGM and players over 2400 participate have free entry, unfortunately no other conditions will be given.

A "bye" is allowed in one of the first four rounds, a timely written notification provided.

Playing Details

40 Moves in 1.45 hrs. (FIDE-regulations). After 40 moves, both players will receive 15 minutes extra to finish the game.

Directions

From motorway A4 Rotterdam - Amsterdam - Utrecht

Take the exit # 7 Leiden / Zoeterwoude Dorp (N206, Europaweg), then continue in the direction Leiden / Voorschoten. After about 1 km (at the traffic light) straight on in direction Voorschoten, the road turns slightly left (Voorschoterweg). Still straight on at the next traffic light, but turn right when coming to the next traffic light shortly after (N206, Churchilllaan). Follow the road for about 1,5 km, then turn left into the Brandts Buyskade. You will see the Leonardo College on your lefthand side after 250 m (Noachstraat 2). There are no parking fees to pay in this part of the town.


From motorway A44 Den Haag - Amsterdam:

Take the exit # 8 Leiden / Katwijk (N206, Plesmanlaan), then continue in the direction Leiden. After about 400 m turn right into the Haagse Schouwweg and then immediately left into the Doctor Lelylaan. Follow the road for about 1 km until you will cross a canal, then straight on at the next traffic light into the Churchilllaan. At the first traffic light after about 250 m turn right into the Brandts Buyskade. You will see the Leonardo College on your lefthand side after 250 m (Noachstraat 2). There are no parking fees to pay in this part of the town..

Public transport

With the bus from Leiden Central Station:

Take the bus line 5 to Voorschoten to get in about 10 minutes to the bus stop Glenn Millerstraat, from there the tournament venue will be at a walking distance of not more than 1 minute.

Take the bus line 6 to Voorschoten to get in about 10 minutes to the bus stop Cornelius Schuytlaan. From there the tournament venue will be at a walking distance of about 5 minutes.


For those being physically fit:

By walking the tournament venue can be reached in about 20 minutes from Leiden Central Station and the Leiden-Lammenschans station, respectively. The closest station is however Leiden-de Vink with a walking distance of about 10 minutes. Please take note of this option since there will be a rather limited bus service on Sunday morning.
